My husband is super into golf. I would even dare to say it is an obsession. It gets really intense when he plays in tournaments or with his small man group and I can’t even count how many pairs of golf cleats he has. If that is even what you call them. I just know they look like regular shoes but have little spikes on the bottom like cleats. Not to mention his collection of clubs and different hat brands. So when he asked if he could join a summer tournament in St. George, UT I didn’t have to think twice. I did not want to be the person to get in the way of him and golf. He got his small man team put together and they were all so excited. Since St. George is a little far away we normally just go for the whole weekend and all the families normally hang out while the dads play. When we got to the Bloomington Country Club where the first day of the tournament was going to be held we were excited. We hadn’t been to this club at all, but we live in the Washington County area so we have heard a lot about it. It is one of the top rated in St. George as well. It had a really nice facility for the price that had to be paid for the entry and was actually really easy to find. It was right off of S Bloomington Drive E and you can overlook the whole Virgin River while you’re there.

On our way up we actually passed a couple of places that looked like they had really good food so my husband had a little more motivation to win the match, because if they did then it was a victory dinner for everyone. We had them pick out where they wanted to go beforehand though so it wouldn’t take forever to choose when everyone was starving just waiting for their dads to choose. Normally they would just eat at the club and we would just do hotdogs or something, but this was a big tournament so we wanted to celebrate. They decided on Viva Chicken St. George which is so yummy and top rated in Washington County so we were excited. Not to mention it was right of the freeway I-15 so it was close to our commute home.

The tournament was going fairly well until my husband started hitting a couple of sand traps. He was beginning to fall behind and he was not thrilled. The only way that he could really catch up is if he got a hole in one. But he had never gotten a hole in one during a tournament before. You could tell the team’s morale started to get down just a little bit as this was their last round in the tournament. It was getting really intense at the end because they were still behind because of my husband. So he took his last shot and amazed everyone watching, including himself, with a hole in one! They were able to get first place because of that hole in one and he got to come home with the trophy.
