False. Bed bugs have been found in all conditions, dirty and clean.

3. Bed bugs are only found on the bed.

False. Even though they are called bed bugs, they are not only confined to the bed. They can be found in beds, on sofas, chairs, and areas near where people sleep or hang out.

4. Bed bugs cannot be seen.

False. Although bed bugs are small (young bed bugs equal to about the size of a poppy seed and adults are about the size of an apple seed), they can be seen.

5. Some people are not affected by bed bugs.

True. Not every person will have a reaction to bed bugs, they may be unaware that bed bugs are in their home until they actually see them.

6. If you have bed bugs, you need to get rid of infested clothing and furniture.

False. In most cases, clothing can be cleaned and furniture can be treated. The items should only be discarded if there are no treatments that can get rid of the bed bugs.
