Let Spiders Live a Little

Spiders may cause you to jump at the sight of them or make you feel uncomfortable living in your home. Unlike many pests though, spiders do not operate on a one way street. They understand you have things to get done during the day and cannot always take care of the pest problems you may have.

Spiders can be good friends to your home as long as they are not poisonous. If you have poisonous spiders crawling around your house then you should have them removed immediately as they will do much more harm than good.

For those spiders that like to “hang” out in your bedroom and make their own bed in the corner, do not rush to conclusions that they are immediately bad. They made a spider web for a reason that you will appreciate. By catching other pests in their web they control the other pests that are in your home.

Here are the three ways a spider benefits your home.

  1. Spiders eat the pests you don’t want.  Mosquitoes, flies, clothes moths, earwigs and roaches are all part of a spiders daily diet.  These other pests cause much more headache than the little guy sleeping in his web.
  2. Spiders kill other spiders.  Fights to the death are common with spiders and they end with the winner eating the loser.  Spiders regulate their own populations by doing this.  You don’t have to worry about your spider problem getting out of control like the number of mosquitoes swarming your head.
  3. Spiders help curtail disease spread.  Many other pests in your home carry diseases with them which make them dangerous to us.  Spiders kill these household pests to make our lives healthier and easier.

Having some adept wall climbers dropping down from your ceiling to scoop up the nasty criminals running around your floor makes it worthwhile to let them stay. They are covering their rent for the month through their services. Before you squish a spider next time, think about what they do for your home.
